Loving Others

By: Randi Ferrara

It is easy to get busy with daily life -overwhelmed with work, running errands and taking care of kids. After all that trying to squeeze in a chance to rest, forgetting the mission of making disciples and simply loving people, but how is that done? We were created to connect. People matter to the Lord and we must not be too busy to let them know. Here are 3 ways to Love others just by showing an interest:

Relational above any personal agenda

Oftentimes, people only show personal interest in those they believe may have something to give us. The truth is, all people matter to the Lord and showing the love of Christ is based in relationships.  Knowing someone's story can be just as important as sharing the gospel. “Live in such a way that those who know you but don't know God will come to know God because they know you.” -Anonymous

Ask questions to connect

Everyone has a story. Many people reveal a glimpse by the expression on their face. Simply asking, “Are you alright today?” could mean a lot to someone who feels ignored and insignificant. Engaging in conversation starts the connection process.

Bring light to the good

When someone does something extra or above ordinary, I try to acknowledge it. Actions positively acknowledged often tend to be repeated.

Keep it up

Our mission doesn't end until the grave.

Romans 12:9-13 ESV “Let Love be Genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in Zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the lord. Rejoice in hope, Be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saint and seek to show hospitality.”

Whether to strangers or the people living in your homes, all interactions can bring glory to God when we show love and appreciation for each other.

Not all actions are appropriate in every setting, so we need to be sure to seek the Lord for guidance.
